PROs
Free beta project listings and social sharing. Paid membership site. Kickstarter pledge amounts, backer numbers, days left, and project information are imported from Kickstarter.com. Reported analytics tracking.
CONs
New community. Still establishing following. Beta platform = working the bugs and kinks out.
Their site and application are still in the "beta testing" phase. It sounds like they are working out bugs. They are offering free project listings for Kickstarter project creators because of this.
BOTTOM LINE
Bakkoo is the newest backer club around. They probably lack a large member base like some of the other clubs. Their paid subscription model guarantees active backers. Their beta site and application platform look and feel pretty solid. Bakkoo is worth checking out since they are offering free project listings to build their club and backer following. We would not recommend paying for project add-ons until the club grows more.
Bakkoo Review
Bakkoo, "The Social Kickstarter Club," offers project promotional services for Kickstarter crowdfunding projects only. They are advertising free project listings during the beta testing of their site and crowdfunding application. This club was founded in 2017 by a group of entrepreneurs in Denver, Colorado. They have a section on their website called Who We Are where you can learn more. They have Quick Start Guides linked from their front page for both backers and project creators which makes getting started easy. If you have more questions, you can checkout the informative FAQ guides in the Quick Starts they provide. They also have links to their Twitter, Facebook, Google+, and Linkedin social accounts in their site footer and say they actively share projects on all of these platforms. In this review, we will walk you through the Bakkoo site, project submission process, and project fees (add-ons) for your crowdfunding project.
The Bakkoo Site
The Bakkoo site has a lot of pages on it compared to the other backer clubs. Half of them are coming soon, and the other half aren't really needed. The site is sectioned into different parts including projects, project submission, FAQ and registration, community areas, and about us. The front page features a Quick Start Guide button if it's your first time visiting. It also shows the twelve newest projects, and you can see more by clicking on View More Projects.
Bakkoo Members
They don't report how many members they have. We guess it isn't too many since they just launched and are offering free listings. Their subscription platform for dedicated Kickstarter backers could be an interesting future development. Bakkoo charges backer membership fees of $6 a month, $15 for three months, or $49 for a year. These membership fees let backers see and register for rewards according to the Backer FAQ. These fees are more expensive other clubs and could hurt them if backers don't want to pay to join. Project creators can create a free account (which doesn't have reward access) to submit their Kickstarter projects. Both backers and creators have to verify email their addresses when they signup to access members' areas. The backer subscription should keep committed backers in the club since they are paying for it.
Submitting a Project to Bakkoo
For submitting projects to Bakkoo, they provide a Submit Project link in the top menu. You need to make a free project creator account, confirm your email, log in, and complete the project submission form. There's about six steps to finish submitting your project.
- Click the Submit Project link in the top menu.
- Register for free as a project creator.
- Confirm your email address (this will give you access to the project creator members' area).
- Log in and click the Submit Project button on the Project Creator Hub.
- Fill out the the submission form. Enter your Kickstarter project information, dates, Kickstarter URL, email address, and reward details.
- Submit the project. You will receive a confirmation email.
To track your project, we recommend adding your own analytics URL with a "?ref=bakkoo" ending tag. Then simply follow this tag with Google analytics or custom referral tags. Bakkoo also says they can send you analytics reports if you ask for them.
Bakkoo Free Project Listings
Bakkoo is currently offering free Kickstarter project listings since they are in beta testing. We found that when we submitted a project, they approved it without asking for any form of payment. We also noticed they have a Boost Store in the Project Creator Hub where it looks like you can buy extra emails, tweets, and other marketing add-ons through PayPal. We would NOT RECOMMEND buying any add-ons until they are out of beta. You will probably waste your money.
Our Backer Club Rating for Bakkoo:
We gave Bakkoo two and a half stars as a backer club. This was because they are offering free Kickstarter project listings, and their site and platform feel great and look solid so far. We found information that their future project listing fees may be $169, $249, and $329 with paid add-ons from their store, so take advantage of the free listings while you can. We liked how Bakkoo is the first backer club to provide backer subscription services. The question will be if they can find paying backers. Their social media involvement is pretty strong as well since they share their posted projects on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Linkedin, and Pinterest. This club could be a good place to start if you take advantage of their free project listings.
Bakkoo also says they power a site called BackerGuru which provides free tweets to 3,000 followers with a submission form. We tried it and it seems to work. See our test tweet on their stream here: Our BackerGuru Test Tweet
